"SNOW ARRIVAL"

"Snow is a letter sent from heaven," a phrase left by Ukichiro Nakaya, a physicist and essayist.

Snow crystals gently encapsulate the temperature, humidity, and fluctuations of wind they encountered on their descent to the earth in their delicate forms.

Uniforms worn by postal workers before 1950.

They supported the act of communication and carried people's thoughts.

By meticulously observing the structure, materials, and uses inherent in past garments,

we unearth the spirituality behind them.

By layering the uniquely Japanese aesthetic of "snow",

workwear takes on a quiet poetic quality.

Like accumulating snow, things have been passed from hand to hand,

from era to era.

To leave the warmth of human touch on things that are being lost.

Through clothing, we connect the past, present, and future.

A unisex brand based in New York and Kyoto.

Founder and designer, Taiga Takahashi, experienced an education that merged Japanese culture and Western thought.

After graduating from University of the Arts London Central Saint Martins in 2017,

he established his own brand in New York.

The brand concept is:

"Excavating future artifacts by resurrecting relics of the past."

The designer himself has collected over several thousand garments since his teens,

most of which are American vintage, mainly from the 1920s to 1950s, before mass production.

He believes that the true value of craftsmanship

already exists in history.

With this in mind, he researches the fabrics, stitching,

and details of garments that have survived time from an archaeological perspective,

and revives them in the present with new interpretations.

Likening clothing to fossils and time capsules, he aims for "timeless clothing" that will last 100 years into the future,

using traditional Japanese techniques and natural materials such as weaving, dyeing, and sewing that are in danger of being lost.

The craftsmanship of proud Japanese artisans is also utilized in T.T's manufacturing.

They pursue manufacturing by repeatedly engaging in dialogue with artisans who inherit traditional Japanese techniques, such as natural dyeing methods that have continued for over 1000 years, and the few remaining old power looms.
